This post contains my personal experience and opinions after researching and using this product with our own dogs. It is not veterinary advice, and every dog is different.
If you've followed Doodle Heaven Texas for very long, you know I don't recommend products lightly.
We've been breeding dogs since 2009, and over the years we've learned that nutrition, exercise, genetics, and preventative care all work together to help our dogs live long, healthy lives.
One supplement we've trusted for years is NuVet Plus. Every puppy we raise starts on it, and our adult dogs have remained on it throughout their lives.
Now that a couple of our dogs are 13 years old, we decided it was time to add NuJoint DS to their routine.
NuJoint DS isn't a general vitamin. It's a joint support supplement specifically formulated for dogs that need additional support for healthy joints and mobility.
The "DS" stands for Double Strength, meaning it contains higher levels of the primary joint-support ingredients than the regular formula.
The ingredients are well known in veterinary medicine and canine nutrition:
Rather than relying on a single ingredient, these nutrients are combined to support joint health together.
As I researched NuJoint DS, one detail caught my attention.
NuVet manufactures NuJoint DS using cold processing instead of high-heat manufacturing. According to the company, the ingredients are compounded in an FDA-registered laboratory using pharmaceutical-grade ingredients, and the cold-processing method is intended to help preserve ingredient potency during production.
As someone who spends a lot of time researching what goes into my dogs' bodies, that mattered to me.
Our senior dogs have given us so much over the years.
As they age, I want to be intentional about supporting them the best I can. That doesn't mean expecting miracles. It simply means looking for products with ingredients that have been well studied and manufactured with quality in mind.
NuJoint DS checked those boxes for me.
For anyone wondering, we haven't replaced our long-time supplement.
Our puppies and adult dogs continue to receive NuVet Plus, just as they have for many years.
For our senior dogs, we've simply added NuJoint DS because it serves a different purpose. One is a daily nutritional supplement, while the other is designed specifically to support healthy joints and mobility.
I'm always learning, and I don't mind changing my opinions when I find something better. But I will only recommend products that I've researched carefully and feel comfortable using with my own dogs.
That's always been my promise to our puppy families. Yes, I do make a few pennies if you purchase these, BUT I can promise you this! I buy this stuff by the case and I wouldn't try to SELL you on it if I didn't use it RIGHT HERE. We have used it for more than 12 years (I have actually sent an email to NuVet to ask them when I started buying it because my account doesn't show it...)
